The King of Sativa
The name was not created in a boardroom. No marketing agency was briefed. No focus group was consulted. No money changed hands.
The name iNkosi yeSativa — The King of Sativa — was given by the people who smoked it. Passed from hand to hand, through townships and cities, across borders and oceans, the name spread the same way the plant itself spread — organically, honestly, unstoppably.
While apartheid-era helicopters flew over the hills of KwaZulu-Natal — spraying anything that looked like cannabis with fire hoses, too cautious to even land — the growers kept growing. Not in industrial greenhouses. Not in climate-controlled warehouses. In small plots next to their family homes. Gardens sometimes no larger than a double bed, tucked between the huts, hidden in the subtropical hills.
And still — under those conditions, under that threat, in that soil, under that sun — what grew there was unlike anything the world had tasted before.
The users named it The King of Sativa. Not because someone told them to. Because it was true.
